What is the timeline for session submission and approval?
The approximate timeline for submitting sessions for the 2010 Loss Prevention Conference & EXPO is as follows:

Who should submit a proposal?
Retailers, industry leaders and educators are eligible to submit a session proposal for the Loss Prevention Conference & EXPO.
What considerations should I be aware of before submitting a session proposal?
- If you are proposing another individual to speak on your program, you will need to confirm that he or she is eligible to speak.
- Each speaker listed understands that he or she will not be paid an honorarium or reimbursed for expenses. However, speakers will receive one complimentary registration to the Conference.
- If the program is selected for presentation at NRF's conference, you and any other speakers agree to coordinate a handout for this program and agree to submit this handout to NRF. (Guidelines for handout development and submission will be sent to speakers once they have been selected).
- Sessions can be scheduled at any time during the convention, and speakers must be available on any days of the show. Speakers will be notified of their program date and time by January 8th.

What are the session proposal requirements?
- Session proposals should offer a wide range of topics and must feature a current retail presenter.
- Session proposals should include a maximum of two speakers who are subject matter experts on the respective topic.
- Session proposals must include an overview of the topic, any action steps to address or remedy the issue and recommended best practices or to-do’s for session attendees.
What are the types of sessions programmed?
The educational program is comprised of:
- General Sessions: 1 hour sessions presented to the total audience. (Sponsorship opportunity available. For more information contact Lisa Marzetti, Industry Relations at 202-626-8136.
- Breakout Sessions: 60 minute to 90-minute sessions that run concurrently presenting key topics followed by an interactive discussion.
- Exhibitor BIG !deas: Sessions located on the EXPO floor during the EXPO hours and are open to everyone. They are conducted by leading retail industry suppliers and showcase the latest advancements to hit the retail market. For more information contact Tami Sakell, Exhibit Sales at 202-661-3044.
How are session selected?
Staff, committees and industry leaders with jurisdiction over the proposed topic, review proposals submitted in their content area. Programs are selected by the following criteria:
- Relevance to the retail industry
- Timeliness of the topic
- Practical application
- Overall program quality
- Speaker credentials/qualifications
- Creative and innovative presentation
- Speakers should clearly identify the program objectives and learning outcomes for participants
What are the speaker requirements?
Speakers selected must meet all deadlines for submitting materials to the NRF staff. The required items are listed below and the specific due dates will be provided to sessions selected to participate. Failure to meet these deadlines may result in the session being cancelled or replaced.
Items that will be required for each session:
- Speakers should be prepared to address the topic in great detail and be open to facilitating a question and answer session at the end of the presentation.
- Complete speaker information: name, company, title, address, phone, fax and e-mail. (Due with session proposal.)
- Speaker bio: A short description of the speaker’s current position, knowledge of session subject and former employment and education.
- A picture of the speaker is optional, but recommended.
- PowerPoint presentation: A PowerPoint presentation must be submitted for each presentation using the NRF conference template. The presentation will be posted online for download after the conference, per speaker cosent.
- The promotion of specific products or services is prohibited during sessions. Exhibitors wishing to promote their products or services should contact Tami Sakell, Exhibit Sales.
How can an Exhibitor participate as a presenter at the Conference?
If you have a great product or solution that you’d like to discuss with conference attendees, then Exhibitor Big !deas is just for you! Sponsors of these informational sessions will receive one 30-minute session in the Exhibitor Big !deas Theater located on the show floor to discuss their company’s product or solution. Sessions will be promoted in the conference guide, attendee marketing materials, on event signage and on the 2010 LP Conference website. How do I submit a proposal?
- You must tell us who you are. Create a User ID and get an eCode.
- Tell us about your proposed speaker and session.
- Print and save your confirmation page. (If you do not get a confirmation page, your proposal was not submitted!!)
