2013 Loss Prevention Awards

Give Credit Where Credit is Due

NRF is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Loss Prevention Awards. Help us acknowledge law enforcement officers, loss prevention professionals and NRF member companies* who have impacted their community and the industry at large. The deadline for all submissions has been extended to April 3, 2013. 

          Submit a nomination for one of the following award categories.

Law Enforcement Retail Partnership Award (LERPA)


This award recognizes law enforcement professionals or agencies who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to support the retail industry in combating fraud and other types of losses. Submit a nomination.

2012 winners were Kebharu Smith from the Houston Office of the Department of Justice and Armondo Astorga, Georgina Cervantes, Terry Muise, Juan Pagan and Matt Wood, all from ICE - Homeland Security Investigations. 

Loss Prevention Case of the Year

This award is given to an LP Investigator whose investigation has made a positive impact on his company, the community and the industry. Submit a nomination.

2012 winners were Adam Brezette and John Morris, Organized Retail Crime Managers for Macy's. They worked to shut down a major gift card fraud criminal organization operating in Southern California.

Ring of Excellence Award

John Hegan

This program recognizes loss prevention professionals whose achievements and outstanding leadership have shaped the industry. Submit a nomination.

The 2011 Ring of Excellence was awarded to John Hegan, whose 45-year loss prevention career with R.H. Macy & Company serves as an example for the LP industry. Throughout his career, John has built relationships with law enforcement and city agencies to ensure the highest level of security in stores and at special events like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Macy's store near the1996 Olympic Park in Atlanta.

LP Volunteers in Action


This recognition program acknowledges loss prevention professionals making significant and measurable contributions to charitable organizations. Submit a nomination.

In 2012, LP Teams from the following companies were recognized: Barnes & Noble, Hart Systems LLC, LifeWay Christian Stores, Limited Brands, PETCO Animal Supplies, PetSmart, Rent-A-Center, Saks Incorporated, Sears Holdings Corporation, Stanley Black & Decker, The Kroger Co, The Neiman Marcus Group and Universall Surveillance Systems (USS). 

*The nominee can be a member of loss prevention at any level, employed by an organization that holds NRF membership.
