VOLCANICA COFFEE RELEASES A RARE LIMITED-EDITION PRIVATE ESTATE COLLECTION FOR EXOTIC COFFEE LOVERS
Volcanica Coffee Introduces Five Rare Coffees Sourced From Columbian Estates
(ATLANTA) – Volcanica Coffee, an online specialty coffee roaster that imports 150+ exotic coffees from volcanic regions around the world, announces the launch of its Private Estate Collection.
The highly exotic coffee collection features single-source, Columbian farmers whose prized, small batches may not be available in the next harvest. Supply is limited and extremely rare, making this a must for coffee connoisseurs.
The new collection introduces five specialty coffees, each beautifully packaged in a 3 oz. glass jar wrapped in Volcanica Coffee’s signature red velvet bag alongside full traceability with information about each farmer, farm and process. Photos are available here.
Using a novel technique adopted from the wine industry, the Private Estate Collection coffees achieve their fresh and distinctive flavors through carbonic maceration (pulp is kept intact and yeast added with fruits), anaerobic fermentation (a process that ferments the coffee cherries rather than crushing them), or a combination of the two.
The new, limited-edition Private Estates Collection includes:
Finca La Luisa by Juan Pablo $29.99 - This Private Estate coffee is produced by Juan Pablo, nicknamed 'Pineapple Honey'. Grown at high altitudes on Finca La Luisa, the coffee cherries are introduced to a pressurized steel tank where CO2 is flushed to create an oxygen-free environment. They are then fermented for five days or 120 hours, during which leached juice from the coffee is recovered. Fermented cherries are then de-pulped and returned to fermentation with the recovered leach mixed with the selected fruit juice for another three days. Finally, the coffee cherries are ready to dry for an additional five days. At 87.5 SCAA, each cup delivers notes of kiwi, pomegranate, pineapple, strawberry and lychee.
Finca La Pradera by Oscar Daza $29.99 - This Private Estate coffee is produced by Oscar Daza, nicknamed 'Castillo Honey Wine Yeast'. Grown at high altitudes on Hacienda La Pradera, this coffee underwent dry anaerobic fermentation for a period of 72 hours, during which the pulp was kept intact, and passion fruit pulp and yeast were added. The cherries were then pulped and dried on raised beds, where passion fruit pulp was placed among them until the ideal moisture content was achieved. At 88.25 SCAA, each cup delivers notes of passion fruit, pineapple, cocoa, and sugar cane.
Finca Milan by Julio Cesar $29.99 - This Private Estate coffee is produced by Julio Cesar Madrid, nicknamed 'Maypop'. Grown at high altitudes on Finca Milan, this coffee underwent carbonic maceration, a novel coffee fermentation technique where a starter yeast or bacterial culture is placed in an airtight environment with the coffee and an energy substrate to develop certain desired aromas and flavor notes for that specific coffee cherry. Julio Madrid and his right hand, Andres Quiceno, are pioneers of culturing. At 92 SCAA, each cup delivers notes of pineapple, lemon, cocoa nib, and myrrh.
Jardines Del Eden ‘Garden of Eden’ by Felipe Arcila $29.99 - This Private Estate coffee is produced by Felipe Arcila, nickname 'Orange Velvet'. Grown at high altitudes on the Jardines Del Eden farm, this coffee underwent dry anaerobic fermentation for a period of 72 hours, during which the pulp was kept intact and peaches and wine yeast were added. The cherries were then pulped and dried on raised beds, where peaches were placed among them until the ideal moisture content was achieved. At 87.5 SCAA, each cup delivers notes of maple syrup, red apple, caramel, vanilla, and white chocolate.
Finca Inmaculada by Camilo Merizalda $29.99 - This Private Estate coffee is produced by Camilo Merizalde, the award-winning 'Sudan Rume' used in the World Champion Barista Competition's. The Sudan Rume is highly sought-after for its cup quality. Grown at high altitudes on the Inmaculada Farm, this coffee underwent dry anaerobic fermentation and carbonic maceration, a technique adapted from winemaking during which the coffee cherries are fermented instead of crushed. The Sudan Rume variety comes from a tall tree originally found in East Africa which displays qualities mainly present in African coffee. At 87.5 SCAA, each cup delivers a creamy body with notes of lime, orange blossom, raw sugar, honey, red wine, and chamomile.
